The publicly penned online encyclopedia they say has its uses but there are too many anonymous unvetted contributors – not to mention downright vandals – for it to command academic authority. What then is to be made of Curriki. org a nonprofit group originally part of Sun Microsystems that likewise takes content contributions from the public at large but whose goal is to teach educators themselves how to teach? Credibility is a large hurdle – but not the only one – for Curriki the year-old “Wikipedia of curriculum” and brainchild of Scott McNealy the chairman of Sun. McNealy and another Sun co-founder Andreas Bechtolsheim have put some of their personal fortunes into getting Curriki off the ground.

Particularly during the 2006 financial crisis it has often been said that there is the lack of information about Iceland in English. The Icelandic banks have done much to rectify this with regular press releases and media interviews. The situation has also been helped by the advent of IceNews and the increase in the number of articles written in English on Wikipedia. ne odd thing about Missouri that we noticed is the amount of pecans for sale on the side of the road. As we drove the highway we must have passed a pecan wholesale distributer every 10 miles or so and in between them every mile there was somebody selling pecans out of the back of their car. Matt and I were perplexed by this so we immediately turned to Wikipedia for help. Either that or Wikipedia is incorrect.

Yes it’s frustrating. But no Mayor it’s not a fait accompli. Wikipedia the online encyclopedia has an entry for “Freeway and expressway revolts. ” This country has a history of good folks rising up against public infrastructure projects deemed deleterious to their downtowns and neighborhoods. Boston San Francisco Los Angeles Milwaukee Portland Seattle Washington D. Cleveland Baltimore among others.
