The Age – Feb 23, 2008
How can you keepdoing the same thing be the same year after year and expect peopleto care to stay interested?”Liano is one of the youngest among mainstream fashion’s oldergeneration which is more graphically illustrated by the line-up ofcreative powers behind international catwalks. Most of the coolestdudes on the planet – at least in the planet’s mainstream – areover 50. Most fashion people are sensitive about their ages butWikipedia says Miuccia Prada for example is 58 Jean PaulGaultier 55 Dame Vivienne Westwood 66 Karl Lagerfeld 74 (or70 depending on whether you believe him or Wikipedia) DonatellaVersace 52. The online encyclopedia says that even Louis Vuitton’sMarc Jacobs to whom as many front-line fashion trends areattributed as Miuccia Prada is 45 in April and John Galliano thekooky creative genius behind Dior is 47. The flow of mainstreamfashion trends into world markets is also moderated by fashioneditors such as US Vogue’s Anna Wintour 58 andInternational Herald Tribune’s Suzy Menkes 64 accordingto Wikipedia. In some ways fashion is a microcosm of the wider ageingsociety. Its most powerful persuasive and cashed-up lieutenantsare getting on a bit and could probably ease up to make way for anew generation to throw their weight and ideas around; maybe evenchange the world.

Jonathan Franklin: Wikileaks Exposes Corporate and Government…
BuzzFlash – Feb 23, 2008
org has thousands of secret government documents posted but the format is so user unfriendly that the information is practically encrypted to the average internet user. Enter wiki ? not wikipedia the collaborative online encyclopaedia which allows everyday readers to edit and post encyclopaedic information. No this is wiki the concept of collaborative intelligence. Much like open source software designs the wiki concept is based on the simple premise that thousands of people working together through loose peer review and public participation can create brilliant results. Wikileaks has no official relation to the wikipedia site though both websites share a faith in free forming networks of Internet users to produce a better world. Wikileaks has no official relation to the wikipedia site though both websites share a faith in free forming networks of Internet users to produce a better world. The first wikileak came in late 2006 as a network of Chinese dissidents and privacy activists sought to create a public advisory board. They approached Stephen Aftergood from Secrecy News who not only refused the offer but criticized the concept saying "without accountable editorial oversight publication can more easily become an act of aggression or an incitement to violence not to mention an invasion of privacy or an offense against good taste. " Another recruit Young of Cryptome went a step further and published on his website the private emails from wikileaks soliciting his involvement. Both incidents created a buzz online.

Maybe this is my lucky break
El Defensor Chieftain – Feb 23, 2008
What got me to Gehrig was that I was wondering what to write about this week and all I could think about was my broken leg. I did an internet search on the phrase “break a leg” which is a way those crazy thespians wish each other good luck before a big performance. Wikipedia offers the “Antonym Theory” for the derivation of the phrase. “Breaking one’s leg is a good thing to hope for — therefore — by some superstition — if ‘good luck’ causes bad luck then the perceived bad luck of breaking one’s leg causes good. This is an example of “fuzzy logic” where again citing Wikipedia the “basic propositional fuzzy logic BL is an axiomatization of logic where conjunction is defined by a continuous t-norm and implication is defined as the residuum of the t-norm. Its models correspond to BL-algebras. I don’t know what that means but what I do know is that despite my bad break I’m still a lucky man… Wikipedia offers the “Antonym Theory” for the derivation of the phrase. “Breaking one’s leg is a good thing to hope for — therefore — by some superstition — if ‘good luck’ causes bad luck then the perceived bad luck of breaking one’s leg causes good. My boss and my staff at El Defensor Chieftain have been very supportive and my friends and family have rallied around me. You try to learn from your experiences and from this I gain empathy for those who live with a handicap and must rely on other people.
