But I was hoping for enough of the basics to answer reasonable questions. More often than not I couldn’t easily get what I wanted. I began by requesting the Web packs for Wikipedia world news and New York where I live. But Wikipedia never arrived. nly later did I learn I didn’t have enough disk space; Webaroo didn’t immediately make that clear. I then tried to research restaurants museums and hobbies in New York. A search for the movie “Thank You for Smoking” got me the previous day’s showtimes from AL City Guide but links to that day’s and the next day’s showings produced error messages… More often than not I couldn’t easily get what I wanted. http://Web of Hatred
Jerusalem Post – Jun 18, 2008
These links (and it turns out there were a few hundred of them) had been added over time not by myself but by well-known Wikipedia contributors who found the historic information on Zionism n The Web and our collection of primary source material a vital resource. This was not only damaging to numerous pages related to Zionist history but shows how an elite can control the encyclopedia. I’ve asked for the matter to be addressed by Wikipedia administrators but so far no one seems interested in considering it let alone taking action. “Raz Shechter admits that Web 2. 0 presents new challenges. “ur efforts at the Foreign Ministry are focused on getting as many countries as possible to pass laws and enforce existing laws against websites expressing flagrant hate messages at the state level” she says. “It is easier – although still a hard challenge – to use legal tools to combat sites entirely devoted to racism.

Fair use and not again

Try to run all the cars in the USA on domestic oileven if you add in the coasts and someone who signsa car loan today could still be making payments whenthe oil runs out. But the AP just gives us duelingsoundbites without the information to put them incontext. Sure no Professional News rganizationis going to work from Wikipedia but they could havemade their own behind-the-firewall wiki with this kindof basic stuff by now. AP’s actual energy reportingstinks of corporate sloth which is a failure smellworse than any copyright shenanigans. The AP has no business using copyright law to defendits failure to fill in the backup information onthe subject the politicians are talking about. But still—just cutting and pasting isnot blogging and it’s not necessarily fair use. Being for copyright balance and the right to quoteother people’s writing in the context of criticismor discussion doesn’t necessarily mean that mindlesscopying is fine.

Icahn confronts Yang
Bangkok Post – Jun 18, 2008
com is illegal at least in California where Google lives; the home page does not have a direct link to the Google privacy policy which “privacy-minded watchdogs” are reminding the courts is why most people go to Google. com; they might change their minds and drop the lawsuit if someone hint-hint contributes substantially to their funding. The folks who gave you the authoritative Wikipedia gave you Wikia the search engine that is meant for you to change; let’s say you think some idiot has put the wrong newspaper at the top of the search for “english newspapers bangkok” you can simply delete what you find and put in Database; certainly nothing could ever go wrong with such a brilliant idea? Digital divide. An imaginary line separating those rich enough to have the equipment and money to afford access to The xford English Dictionary and the billions of The Children(tm) and other disadvantaged who will no longer be able to access the world’s leading dictionary because it will only “print” on CD and the Internet from now on. The rather confused backbencher Jason Wood of Victoria state spoke of the benefits and risks of biotechnology to the Australian parliament voicing concern about “genetically modified orgasms” – and he did this multiple times saying the word “orgasm” twice.

Hands on: Desktop virtualization pioneer runs into bugs
Computerworld – Jun 18, 2008
The rationale for the original decision to virtualize the desktop was to offer the staff operating system and application flexibility while maintaining governance manageability and control of the corporate environment. In hindsight our intent was correct but our timing — to say the least — was a little off. If one were to look up the definition of. Wrong! That is the classic form of desktop virtualization with all of the issues and baggage associated with the mainframe era. While appropriate for constrained application environments such as call centers or office or accounting administration this virtualization approach is not viable in a creative or research environment.
