Ethiopian Review
The coalition government of Ethiopia therefore must impartially and peacefully mediate between the warring parties in order to create a peaceful atmosphere throughout Ethiopia so that economic rehabilitation can get underway. Force cannot be a mechanism for democratizing a society.

” It’s a little mysterious following the Google trail from site to sitegathering information and trying to connect the musicians to otherbands when the biographies cite bi Best as a “side project. ” No matter where Alex Lilly Bram Inscore John Wood and Barbara Gruskacame from though they’ve found a delightfully harmonious placetogether. “Capades” is simply lovely. The tracks on this album feel as though they’re transporting the listener to a musical type of Narnia a place far away from the dreadfully aggressive the eccentrically hyper or debilitating depressive tunes that came side by side with the economic downturn.
Wolfram Research’s new product Alpha to compete with Google and …
Wikinews
Wolfram Alpha is described by Stephen Wolfram (CE of Wolfram Research Inc. ) as a ?computational knowledge engine?. Unlike Google Yahoo and other traditional web search engines that rely on statistical methods for retrieving online documents Wolfram Alpha answers factual questions in the way that Wikipedia does except it relies on analytical methods instead of human-generated documents. Although the product is still in a limited release some details about its operation and design have been revealed by Wolfram on his blog and by Nova Spivack who recently interviewed Wolfram about Wolfram Alpha. The product is available on the Web as a single search box reminiscent of Google?s main search page. The search queries can be entered in natural language and the natural language system will parse the query and use models of knowledge (ontologies) and human-curated data to return an answer including graphs and other representations. The ontologies and data are managed by Wolfram employees who must input new ontologies and data by hand or occasionally with the assistance of programmatic tools.

Yes yes I know it’s a bit of an anticlimax after all the hype I gave to it especially when this online knowledge oasis’ name is painfully engrained into all our minds. For those unfamiliar with this unusual website Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that is written built edited and managed almost entirely by its users (a wiki of any sorts refers to this sort of free-for-all setup of adding and editing content). I know there are a great many skeptics of this system because of its seemingly helter-skelter environment for article publishing. Let’s be upfront: yes there have been reports of incorrent or sketchy information appearing on Wikipedia.
Paper ‘” Document summarization using Wikipedia
ResourceShelf
Single document summarization techniques have the potential to simplify information consumption on mobile phones by presenting only the most relevant information contained in the document. In this paper we present a language independent single-document summarization method. We map document sentences to semantic concepts in Wikipedia and select sentences for the summary based on the frequency of the mapped-to concepts. ur evaluation on English documents using the RUGE package indicates our summarization method is competitive with the state of the art in single document summarization.
I watched the Watchmen

Published on Mar 9 2009I’m going to open this by stating quite openly that I’ve not (yet) read the Watchmen graphic novel. This was my own choice as I have a copy of the book which was given to me for my birthday however I wanted to go to see the movie as a blank slate. I allowed myself the briefest of skims through Wikipedia’s Watchmen article to get the gist of just what was going on prior to heading to the IMAX to watch the movie. And what a movie it was. I was impressed beyond belief. So many people that I’d spoken to prior to the film were ‘boycotting’ because it was ’simply unfilmable’ and was seen as the ‘greatest graphic novel of all time’. bviously having not read the book (yet) I didn’t share their opinion and put it to my boycotting friends that if it was a 90-minute popcorn movie maybe I’d share in their pessimism.
