Wikipedia shouldn’t work
Taranaki Daily News
First stop: Wikipedia. When people are seeking readable facts fast they mostly head to the internet go to Google type in what they’re seeking and voila there it is within seconds. Inevitably in the top five results if not higher there’ll be one from Wikipedia. The online free encyclopedia has entries on nearly everything and on anybody who’s anybody on Earth. But New Plymouth author David Hill is along with a much bigger hill – Mt Taranaki. The Taranaki Daily News has an entry and so does the New York Times.

I took some time to play around with Wolfram Alpha and aside from being the best damn Wikipedia search engine. I know that in evaluating a Stephen Wolfram production my meager intelligence quotient may not be sufficient to grasp the gravity of what I’m dealing with.

New iPhone may pack CIA-like feature that detects buildings on …
Geek.com
According to a post on the iPhoneApps site citing a source “closely connected to Apple’s hardware development team” the next iPhone allegedly lands July 17 a little over a year since iPhone 3G launched. Much more intriguing however are new pieces of information hinting that upcoming iPhone revision packs more substantial hardware changes than depicted in all rumors to date. New information corroborates.

Gray: Grasshopper anyone? What I’ll do for a column
The Saratogian
Whenever I’m at a crossroads in my life I turn to God or Goggle. Assuming God is busy with serious things like Middle East peace storm damage and Danny Gokey not making it to the finals of American Idol I turned to the Internet and found two things of interest. The first is a Wikipedia page dedicated to all things “grasshopper” and I learned some amazing facts. For example did you know that in Uganda grasshoppers are considered a delicacy but only men are allowed to eat them. The belief is if a woman eats a grasshopper when she has a baby it will be born with the head of a grasshopper. No I’m not making this up. It does make you wonder what Donald Trump’s mother was eating during pregnancy that could have caused that hair.

Patrick Swayze Dead? Not So Fast
Twirlit
Passing from tweet to tweet hundreds and thousands of twitter users across the world hurried to proclaim the death of the 56-year-old. The news however was quickly denied by Swayze’s representatives who said the actor was doing just fine. And that seems to be that.

Roam if you want
Sydney Morning Herald
The world-beating feature is that thecompressed data squeezed into the iPhone is not decompressed forreading reformatting or manipulating; nor if you add stuff doesit need recompressing. It also means you can reach for any morsel of informationwhether or not you are connected to the mobile network or withinreach of a wi-fi hotspot. The idea is that all of Wikipedia constantly updated resideson the TiniWiki server in compressed form. Subscribers sign up andthen decide whether they wish to download the whole database orchoose just the category that interests them. The former could takeseveral hours the latter maybe a minute or two. nce loaded into your iPhone’s memory the information can beupdated much more quickly. Updates are refreshments; downloads ofonly new or changed information.
